From meeting and greeting and champagne shows to social media takeovers and competitions, Walid’s here to spill the beans on everything you need to know about making the big move and working on this beautiful Balearic island!
Introduce yourself, tell us about what you do at O Beach Ibiza.
My name is Walid Lahraoui, Head VIP Host at O Beach. My role is to greet customers in the VIP area and escort them to their bed/table, organising their drink packages, spray shows and birthday celebrations so that they seamlessly reach the tables and create an incredible atmosphere with unforgettable memories for our guests.
When did you first visit Ibiza? What were your first impressions of the island?
May 15th 2016 was the first time I flew out to Ibiza, the flight was only £20! I had never been to the island before and I didn’t know anyone but everyone is in the similar situation and willing to help one another. The island allows you to vary what you do on a day to day basis…whether it be relaxing at a remote beach, heading into Ibiza town for some good restaurants and retail therapy, exploring the scenic hilltops and landmarks such as Es Vedra and of course partying to your hearts content! You’re spoilt for choice of things to do here.
So, we take it you really fell in love with the island?
Definitely! I just love that everyone on the island is on the same level, they’re here to party, make new friends, explore the island and create memories that they can reflect on. From sunrise to sunset the island itself is truly magical and beyond amazing.
What is it that makes you want to come back & work here each year?
For me, I can only describe it as pure happiness! It’s not a job, it’s an adventure! You walk into an open house where there is music pumping, the sun is shining and each day is completely different from the last! To top it off you get to spend the days with your friends who after a short period of time become the family that you create amazing memories with.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of the job is that I get to really be myself! I feel that when you are on holiday you are continuously happy because you are doing something you love and enjoy as well as getting a tan… well for me being at work is the exact same thing but the bonus is you are getting paid for it.
Which is your favourite O Beach party and why?
It’s really difficult to have one favourite party, but if I really have to pick then it would be Kisstory due to the change of music from your traditional house music. The equal opponent has to be our Friday Pool Party, it’s the start of the weekend, everyone is there for a good time and the entertainments and shows, which are performed throughout the day, are amazing!!
What advice would you give to anyone applying to work for O Beach Ibiza this summer?
I’d say you need to be hardworking, positive and most importantly, be yourself. If you really enjoy creating unforgettable memories for yourself and those who visit then apply!
