What to wear a beach club (female edition)

Back to Blog

“What shall I wear to the beach club?” is a question we’re often asked and our overall response would be: whatever makes you feel like YOU!

In true Ibiza spirit, we want you to get creative but more importantly, feel comfortable. We all know and love Ibiza for her inclusive, bohemian spirit and for uniting all types of sunshine seekers and styles. This entire island is one big party that everyone from all walks of life has been invited to for decades!

From laid-back looks that mirror Ibiza’s hippie vibe, to glamorous get-ups that call on Ibiza’s wild side, everything and anything goes on our magical island. Whether it’s a fabulous Julia Clancey kaftan and turban, this season’s high street must-haves, or a casual t-shirt and denim shorts combo, wear whatever makes you happy. Don’t let anyone tell you any different, the world would be a boring place if we were all the same and you weren’t your authentic self!

In other words: don’t hold back but might we suggest making sure whatever you do choose to wear whatever aids your groove? All O Beach Ibiza beds come with secret storage, and lockers are available for dance floor ticket holders, so you can make like the icon that is Cher and pull out a second outfit if you want to.

Our second piece of advice would be: SPF! Wear it to O Beach Ibiza, and any beach club, anywhere, for that matter. High Mediterranean temperatures equal high UV indexes—please remember to top up with a high-factor, protective sunscreen throughout the day and say safe in the sunshine!

You’re here to pool party, so swimwear feels like the obvious choice (beware our sprinklers as they’re activated without warning) but with respect for the local community, we’ll ask that you walk in and out of the venue wearing more than just your bathing suits, bikinis and bottoms. Reach for a shirt or cover-up, in airy fabrics including cotton and linen or something that sparkles in the sunshine, just keep cool in the queue.

Take a bow

‘Hyperfemininity’ is a big theme this summer. Once reserved for ‘cute girl’ status, bows and ribbons are all grown up and took over the SS24 catwalks. Add them to your beach club outfit with bow-embellished pieces like this Agent Provocateur bow-detailed bikini top.

An aquatic aesthetic

At the Gucci Cruise show last May, models were sent down the catwalk in neoprene, holding surfboards. Jenny Packham wove iridescent beads and recycled sequins into abstract wave patterns, starfish and coral on her eveningwear—all inspired by efforts to save the ocean (an initiative close to our hearts).  Fashion has been drawing inspiration from underwater for some time and we’re here for it. We’re going all in!

Some of these motifs popped up at our 2023 House in Paradise Underwater Lost Kingdom-themed pool party and will be back this year with brand new costumes, putting us in alignment with the catwalk when it comes to fashion. This makes Wednesdays at O Beach Ibiza the perfect day to dive deep into this trend.

Try this tropic-inspired swimsuit from Oceanus or wear this hand-crocheted, one-size cover up from My Beachy Side over your swimwear for a bold spin on this theme. In vibrant underwater colours, the starfish-like detailing will have you standing out from the poolside crowd.

For a subtle take, these Julietta earrings keep things fun while these Zara shell earrings feel timeless.

Keep things rosy

This costume pays homage to our dedication to fashion. The corset is designed with Vogue issues all over.

From Marni’s tin can-made florals to Burberry’s cheerful prints, florals bloomed at most shows for SS24. We’ve introduced them into our costume collection before and now it’s your time to shine.

This season, fashion’s favourite flower is the rose which is all about romance and passion—we’re here for the rose renaissance.

Special appreciation goes out to this red swimwear from Magda Butrym featuring a detachable rose, and we love pretty much everything from the divine Oséree red roses collection. Turn heads by layering the skirt or trousers over your swimwear when you’re not in our pool.

Sequins and sparkles

What’s party season without a little lot of shimmer and shine? They’re all over the runways and the red carpets but there’s something extra special about the way sequins catch and reflect the light in the beach club, which is why you’ll see a lot of our entertainers dressed in shimmery outfits, and shiny fabrics used across our props in the sky. Bring your big disco energy to the venue this summer, especially to Soul Heaven Saturdays, and shine like the star you are.

For an effortless approach to this trend you could co-ordinate this light-catching cover-up from SHEIN over any swimwear. It’s available in green, black and brown.

In a timeless brown, this glittering Candypants co-ord is universally flattering and easy to style thanks to the matching bikini shirt.

Metallic Magic

The future is bright. As tech advances and society becomes even more futuristic, and Paris continues gearing up for the 2024 Olympics, the fashion set are choosing metallics this summer.

Make like a Bond girl in this set from Rat & Boa and capture the glowing effect of molten metal in Dolce & Gabbana’s metallic one-piece. Grab your favourite pair of big sunnies and have fun contrasting the gunmetal hue with other metallic shades.

Just for fun, here are some of our own metallic costumes from last year.

Our performers at WildChild 2022

Please note: there’s no sportswear allowed at this beach club. We can absolutely appreciate a co-ordinated trackies moment (just look at our breakdancing performers from years gone by) but dear guests—there’s a time and a place. Please leave your shell suits at the door and save the gym wares for your gym wears.

Our door team also operate a non-negotiable no-fancy dress policy. This means NO matchy-matchy slogan swimsuits, no body paint, no masks, and no birthday accessories. A captain or cowboy hat featuring ‘Bride’? …OK we’ll allow it. Want to add glitter? Stock up on biodegrable sparkle from Kiss My Fairy!

If all else fails, the O Beach Ibiza boutique is also stocked with myriad swimwear styles in every colour, sustainably made swim shorts, trinkets handmade here in Ibiza, sunglasses in shapes to suit all faces and extra pieces you can effortlessly style.
