the current host of Wednesday nights Kiss show ‘The Mix Block’ , mixing the best of Bass, Hip Hop and RnB comes to Ocean beach ibiza !
we caught up with swerve in the run up to his kisstory set this tuesday to find out the ins and outs of his career, who his favourite celebrity interview is and how he got the name ‘swerve’ !
“I’VE GOT MY DREAM JOB”
How long have you been DJ’ing for and what made you start?
Professionally i started 1999 but before that I was wrecking my parent’s music system. I was just obsessed with scratching.
What has been the highlight of your career?
It’s hard to pick one. I’ve got my dream job. Getting my first show on Kiss was massive. I remember someone saying to me “that’ll change your life”. He was right. I left my day job and went into DJing full time.
You’ve interviewed some of the biggest names in the music industry, who has been your FAVORITE and why ?
it has to be Jay Z for being so polite and humble. We had a joke about how he would make a great DJ! Some celebrities lose their sense of humour and he hasn’t. Snoop was good too. I’d never met him before until he walked into the room. He’s so tall! very Softly spoken but he was great to talk to.
WHAT´S BEHIND YOUR NAME DJ SWERVE ?
IT’S A PAINFULLY LONG STORY BUT BASICALLY MATES KEPT TROLLING ME FOR “GETTING MY SWERVE ON” AT AN EVENT. THEY WERE BASICALLY JUST JEALOUS BUT IT KIND OF STUCK AND WORKED OUT TO BECOME MY NAME.

What do you love most about Ibiza ?
The transformation after sunset. The whole party atmosphere is amazing.
What´s next for DJ Swerve?
just Working at keeping my Kiss Jams show on point. i’m also currently Working on an RnB/HipHop club night, DJ’ing and production
