Swedish DJ/producer Stonebridge needs no introduction. You’ll know and love him for chart-topping tracks including ‘Take Me Away’ and one of the most requested songs at O Beach Ibiza: ‘Show Me Love’ – Robin S (club remix).
It was Stonebridge’s remix of ‘Closer’ – Ne-Yo that led to his Grammy nomination. He was also the first DJ that Britney’s team asked to remix the unforgettable Blackout single: ‘Gimme More’. But what’s he working on at the moment?
“I very recently released my new single ‘Not Alone’ and it’s going really well. I’m also writing, producing and remixing a lot right now, just finished this insanely good track by STHLM Esg called ‘Running’.
We’re incredibly excited to be joined by StoneBridge, Hedkandi’s birthday guest, this summer, for one special set on 26th August to commemorate the sexiest sounds since ’99.
“I think my favourite Hedkandi memory would be in Miami during WMC (Winter Music Conference) many years ago. Eric Kupper and I are sitting by a pool on South Beach and talking producer stuff and all of a sudden Mark Doyle (creator of Hedkandi) rocks up, points at Eric saying “You’re on at 11”, then me “You’re on at 12”! We just looked at each other and asked him “Did we just get a Hedkandi gig?”
That’s how it started.
Another favourite is Mark asking: “Why did you never make an artist album?” in 2003, I said “Because no-one asked!” “Well I am now,” says Mark, and that’s how the album with ‘Put ‘Em High’ came about. Gotta love it!”
Impossible to forget, that very track went on to become a Hedkandi favourite, peaking at no.6 in the UK Singles Chart. “In general, I always push forward and never get too sentimental, but there are definitely epic songs from different times that immediately bring me to a certain time or place, like ‘Put ‘Em High’ There are so many memories from all the Hedkandi shows worldwide and the mad touring.”
Some of those memories include Ibiza, Hedkandi’s second home, and to Stone “a special place with a certain vibe you can’t find anywhere else.
You sort of feel that special people have been attracted to it for a long time creating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. It also attracts people that love music which makes it fun to play here!”
Expect a selection of feel-good house tunes from StoneBridge’s set at O Beach Ibiza this season, as well as hands-in-the-air moments and a little nostalgia too.
“‘There For You’ – Just Kiddin ft Effie is an awesome track I keep coming back to at the moment. There will always be some golden moments people won’t expect in my sets. I’ve remixed and produced since 1988 or so – I can dig in the vault but I like to surprise with new remixes of classics done more recently, too.”
