For me, my track of the day has got to be: A Guy Called Gerald:Voodoo Ray (Greg Wilson Edit) One of the original house records from this fantastic British producer, hailing from Manchester. The track was one of the original house tunes to go mainstream and Greg’s version just brings it a bit more up to date and more usable during an up to date sounding set. It’s a perfect early evening O Beach track when the place is really going off, thats the best time for these kind of tracks, sunset time.
Dropping a track that people recognise and can sing along to really helps create some of the standout moments of the pool party and this classic Eddie Amador track has been given a quality uplifting remix from the amazing Robosonic. Its featured in my sets over the winter in Dubai and i can’t wait to drop it at the Pool Party opening.
My favourite tune to play for the Pool Party is probably Aly-us Follow Me (full intention remix). I’ve been playing it for years now and usually will always play it in my sets, especially in Ocean. What ever time of day I play in there, warming up or for peak time sets, the track will always get a great reaction from a whole range of ages and will always get the crowd singing along to it. I might be bit biased towards it as it still sits in my top fave 10 tracks, even tho I still sing the wrong words to it. I’ve put my little twist on it and done my own little bootleg of it this winter, what I’m really looking forward to, is playing peak time on Fridays and Tuesday’s, a bit chunkier, with more of a garage vibe behind it. Fingers crossed it will do the do for the dance floor. See you Friday’s and make sure you sing along to it when you hear it.
One of my favourite terrys that I play when im down at the ocean pool party is David Morales’s classic def mix remix of Mariah Careys Dreamlover. Never fails to get the party going, fits perfect into that summer afternoon buzz and almost 10 minutes long so enough time to grab a beer too, usually delivered in a bucket from the lovely Mr Crane.
When I first heard this song the first place I thought on was O Beach Club and I could visualise myself playing it there. It has lots of hands in the air moments, has the perfect summer vibe and my favourite – plenty of piano!
