With March already on our doorstep and the summer fast approaching its time to cleanse our bodies and get in shape, ready for our return to the White Isle! After the New Year most of you would have paid that full gym membership and probably only used it for the first month! For you to really feel the full benefits at the gym, any personal trainer will tell you that you will have to change your diet.

Through these next few posts via the new O Beach Blog, I will provide you with hints and tips for cleansing and shaping up with Juices & Smoothies, as well as information on organic health supplements.

Did you know? …

Our liver is the most abused organ in the body, but also one of the most important! It’s responsible for cleansing the body of toxins, which can pollute the system and erode away our health and wellbeing. This means that cleansing the liver is usually a very powerful way to give our body the internal spring clean.

The foundation of any liver-friendly diet plan is to make relatively light work for this organ. This can be achieved through a diet containing an abundance of both juiced and blended, fruits and vegetables.

By consuming juices and smoothies, not only do they de-stress the liver, but they also contain plenty of nutrients such as Vitamin C, which supports liver function. Using Organic produce is definitely recommended as this is pretty much free of potentially toxic herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and whatever else the government wishes to turn a blind eye too, foods which contain a lot of either fat or protein should be down played in the diet, as they require quite a lot of chemical processing in the liver.

The foods to avoid …

Fatty meats such as Beef, Lamb, Duck, and Pork.

Dairy products

Unhealthy hydrogenated vegetable oils present in many margarines, processed and baked foods.

Foods that contain artificial additives such as sweeteners, colourings, flavourings and preservatives should be also be avoided or at least minimised in the diet.

Alcohol and caffeine, both of which stress the liver, should be avoided or moderated (at least for the first few months).

Finally make sure you Drink one-and-a-half to two litres of filtered or mineral water (not tap water) each day to help with the cleanse, this will help to filter away the toxins.
