New Girl On The Block! LOÉCA!

Growing up with house music literally all around her, Chloe Sharville, known as Loéca, has been building her reputation here in Ibiza for well over 5 years. She has house music in her veins. We are super proud to have Loéca here with us every Monday & Friday throughout the Summer! Playing for Hed Kandi and at Pool Party. Tell us a little bit about yourself, how long have you been DJ’ing for and what made you start ?

Loeca 1 I started DJing at the age of 14. I grew up listening to house music because of my parents. When I was 13
years of age I started to get really obsessed with it and so asked for decks for Christmas and when I was 14 I had my first residency in a local club. I played all over Ireland and Ibiza for the following 4 years but then had a break from DJing as I went to study Law at university. But I’ve been back at it a year now and loving it.

So what or who has been the biggest inspiration to your music?

I would say again my parents have probably been the biggest inspiration to my music. My dad was a DJ turned promoter in Northern Ireland in the late 80s/early 90s so I was constantly surrounded by DJs growing up, even Carl Cox was in my house when I was around 2 or 3. Also, a really good friend of my mum’s, Joanne, was an extremely popular DJ in Ireland in the nineties so she was a big inspiration as she was the first female DJ I ever met, I used to listen to all her house and garage mix tapes as well as a friend of my dad’s, Paddy Frazer, he got me hooked on Italian piano house. All the music I play today is inspired by that era.

You’ve lived in Ibiza for many years, what’s your favourite thing to do on the island when you’re not behind the decks?

Honestly my favourite thing to do when I’m not DJing is to be on the dance floor. I live for music and that’s why I’m here on the island. Or if I want to chill out I love relaxing on one of the many beautiful beaches the island has to offer with a huge gin and tonic in hand!

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

O Beach Ibiza of course! I absolutely love being a part of the great team of DJs that work there and joining Lovely Laura on Mondays! Playing in Amnesia when I was 17 was pretty spectacular too. And joining Hed Kandi’s International roster was really special too as I always loved the brand.

What’s behind the name Loeca and where did it come from?

Everyone thinks there is a cool story behind the name and there isn’t one! My first name is Chloé (but that
was already taken by another DJ) and my middle name is Catherine. So I took the end of Chloé and the beginning of Catherine and came up with Loéca. I just wanted to have something short and sweet.

What can we expect to see from Loeca in 2016?

This summer I have residencies across the island in O Beach Ibiza, Savannah and Nassau Beach Club which allows me to play to a broad spectrum of people. And the winter will consist of gigs around the world with Hed Kandi. Hopefully I will have 1 or 2 tracks out before the end of the year too!
